BPD radKids Week

Your kids will be in a fun and very active program that stresses safety awareness through role-play, self-defense and other activities. Burlington Police D.A.R.E. will incorporate risk awareness skills (strangers, publicsafety etc.) with radKIDS, a program that offers defense against abduction. RadKIDS teaches all kinds of cool things, like what you can do to be safe from fires, or how to be safe when you're out shopping, even what to do if a strange dog scares you. The radKids portion of the class (defense against abduction) is a 15-hour class to be integrated with the D.A.R.E. safety awareness teachings.  Due to a generous grant from Lahey Clinic, classes will
be free for all attending residents. Donations to the Burlington D.A.R.E. Program are appreciated. As per the radKIDS organization, each child thereafter will be able to re-attend the class on an unlimited basis for free.  The program is intended for children ages 8-12. The course will be held at the Memorial Elementary School gymnasium Mon. – Fri. (9am-12noon) July 14-28, July 21-25 and July 28-August 1. All 5 classes must be attended. Full time Burlington Police officers will teach the class! Registration forms will be made available at the Burlington Police Web Site: www.bpd.org and
may be dropped off at the Police Station. Limited space available! For questions, call Officers Keith Sheppard or Steve Cross at (781) 505-4919.

Weekly Bulletin

School News:

Francis Wyman was pleased to host the 1:1 Technology Summit today.  Seventy-five teachers from all around Massachusetts visited our school to learn how we integrate technology in the classroom.  Our students were excited to demonstrate all their various projects. We were proud to be hosts and very proud of our school.

The first round of PARCC is officially over. Besides a few small glitches, the process was smooth. Our students were flexible with this new test,  and our teachers did a fabulous job executing it!  We are currently scheduling the May testing dates and will send home the details very soon.

The grade 5 Science MCAS is scheduled for May 7 and May 8.  All fifth grade students will take this test both days.  Please have the students to school on time these two days. Get plenty of sleep and have a good breakfast.

Spring Concert and Family Art Night is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 16.  The Art Exhibit, created by students in grades 1 - 5, can be viewed anytime from 6pm - 8pm.  Grade 4 Spring Concert will be in the auditorium at 6pm and Grade 5 Spring Concert will be in the auditorium at 7pm.  Mrs. Gendron, Miss Potts, Mrs. Peabody, Mrs. Kerr, and Mrs. Finkle hope to see you all there!  This is a family event and all are invited!  Please see the music blog for details. http://franciswymanmusic.wordpress.com/
If you would like to visit Orange Leaf after this event, they will donate a portion of sales to the Francis Wyman Music program!!

Francis Wyman raised $1,839.73 for Pennies for Patients to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The money that was donated will go to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Thank you for donating to this worthy cause.
